Gramazini ramps up productivity

SpeedROC 2FA and SpeedCut made the difference

November 29, 2020

Brazil is the one of the biggest players in dimension stone extraction and processing, according to Sindirochas statistics (the local syndicate for the mining industry). Dimension stone represents over US$ 1.5 billion of granite, quartzite and marble per year. A key factor for this achievement is an intense modernization of all the machinery in processing and extraction in the country. One major example is a company called Gramazini, part of the Thomazini Group and positioned among top 5 national producers, who experienced excellent results thanks to the use of innovative Atlas Copco technologies: SpeedCut 100 (discontinued from 2020 Decenber) and SpeedROC 2FA.
With the diamond wire cutting machine Atlas Copco SpeedCut, Gramazini had an increase of 35% in its productivity. As the fastest machine of its kind, SpeedCut enables to cut at speeds up to 45 m2/h. A patented wire tensioning system combines high cutting speed with low wire consumption (life extended up to 40%).

Key working parameters such as cutting time duration, performance of the wire and error code lists are easily downloaded and managed with any regular computer. Gramazini also achieved higher productivity and lower operational costs with a new surface drill rig, the SpeedROC 2FA, specially designed for the dimension stone industry.

The SpeedROC 2FA is a self-sufficient drill attachment, suitable for excavators with an operating weight between 24 and 30 tonnes, integrating an 8 bar (116 psi) air compressor. Equipped with two hydraulic rock drills, it is suited for drilling in vertical and inclined surfaces with difficult access, covering a 360-degree area, with long boom reach, flexible drilling capacity, fast positioning and high tramming stability. It also allows all activities to be executed with a radio remote control (RRC).

The SpeedROC 2FA is designed to be compliant with Brazilian laws, using a water injection system, fed by a 400 liter tank, assuring high autonomy and working safety.

"Both these solutions are based on Epiroc key strategical values, which are: Safety, Ergonomic, Environment friendly and Sustainable Productivity. This turns those machines into great investments for those who want the fastest ROI and best cost effectiveness, as well as a safe and sustainable operation."
